Lessons Learned from Wellhead Treatment DBCP Treatment in California
Author: Paul Selsky

In 1989, the adoption of a more stringent maximum contaminant level for dibromochloropropane (DBCP) suddenly put many wells operated by California drinking water utilities out of compliance. Found with the need to install wellhead treatment, a myriad of questions resulted concerning the design and construction of granular activated carbon treatment units. Since 1990, a number of these treatment units have been constructed. This paper summarizes what has been learned from installation and operation of these treatment units in California's Central Valley.
