Energy Management in Wastewater Treatment Plants, Part I
Author: William K. Faisst, James G. Smith

Energy management has become one of the key issues of the 1970's and will probably be even more important in the 1980's. We have felt the muscle of the Arab oil embargo, seen the construction of the Alaskan Pipeline, paid the skyrocketing costs of fuel and learned a new set of buzzwords, like "strategic petroleum reserves," "fast-breeder reactors," "gasohol," and "refuse-derived fuel." Energy has become so important that the federal government has established a department bearing the name and many federal and states agencies now encourage us to look at alternative energy sources, energy conservation techniques, and future energy costs as part of our national attack on energy problems.
