Brown and Caldwell announces executive leadership changes

WALNUT CREEK, Calif., September 8, 2016 — Brown and Caldwell, a leading environmental engineering and construction firm, today announced new appointments to its executive leadership team. The strategic changes position the company for continued growth as an employee-owned firm and success delivering environmental solutions to a diverse portfolio of public and private clients.

Chief Operating Officer Rich D’Amato has been promoted to president, succeeding Jim Miller who, after 12 years in his post, has been appointed vice chairman of Brown and Caldwell. Cindy Paulson, a senior BC executive with the firm since 1987, has been promoted to Chief Technical Officer – a newly created position marking BC’s commitment to engineering excellence and innovation.

Since joining the firm in 2013, D’Amato has held key leadership roles, including executive vice president, leader of the firm’s private sector enterprise and more recently, COO.

"Rich is ideally suited to provide next generation leadership for the company,” said Craig Goehring, Brown and Caldwell chairman and chief executive officer. "He understands the complexities of the environmental market; he is passionate about delivering full-service solutions to our clients; and he is committed to sustaining BC’s culture and core values. I am pleased that Rich has accepted this challenge and am confident that he will succeed in this key role.”

Miller joined BC as president and COO in 2004 and has championed many company initiatives, including the firm’s award-winning Health and Safety program, that have enabled BC to grow and continue its market leading position.

"Jim’s ambitious vision for the company, coupled with diligent management, has positioned Brown and Caldwell to stand out in a competitive industry,” said Goehring. "His commitment to innovation and collaboration has set the stage for BC’s current success, and we look forward to his continued guidance on the board.”

Paulson has progressed through several senior leadership positions with the firm. As CTO, she will drive a broad set of initiatives to advance BC’s technical services and solutions.

"Cindy brings an incredible depth of knowledge of complex environmental issues across the country,” Goehring said. "Consistently, she has demonstrated ingenuity in winning solid outcomes for our clients and enjoys a high profile as a thought leader in our industry.”

All position changes are effective immediately. D’Amato and Paulson will report directly to Goehring.
